Teversal Still Fighting For Survival
And so it comes down to the last game of the season as Dave Turner’s Premier South Teversal side continued their recent, upturn in form, to move within a win of survival – providing results go their way elsewhere that is.
As for the other Notts sides in the Central Midlands Alliance Premier divisions, there wasn’t much joy with defeats for SJR Worksop, and Blidworth Welfare in the North, and for Linby Colliery Welfare in the South.
For Tevie, a 2-1 win at home to Bakewell Town, means that, whilst keeping an eye on the outcomes at both Mickleover RBL’s game at Holwell Sports, and Gresley Rovers Reserves’ match at Derby Singh Brothers, they need to win, and hope both of those lose.
Joshua Radford put Tevie a goal up after eleven minutes; they could have extended that lead shortly before the break, but the visitors went straight up the other end to equalise through Matthew Kelcey.
An even, yet edgy game, could have gone either way throughout the second half with both sides having chances, but it would be the hosts that would snatch victory at the death; stoppage time fell kindly for Tevie, and for Rocco Hardy, who pounced to grab would could prove the most valuable of goals for the club.
Elsewhere, Linby fell to a lone-goal defeat at home to South runners-up, Melbourne Dynamo, they claiming the points courtesy of Isaac Nkrumah’s first half goal; Linby’s loss means they now slip to fourth, depending on results on the final day of their reverse fixture at Melbourne, and Cromford & Wirksworth (currently fourth), also against Melbourne, in midweek.
In the Premier North, SJR Worksop fell to a 1-0 defeat away to AFC Bentley, courtesy of a last-minute goal from Jordan Snodin; Blidworth meanwhile were on the wrong end of a thumping when going down 6-1 at home to Harworth Colliery, for whom Marley Alder netted a brace, Benjamin Copestake with the hosts’ consolation.
Fifth place Worksop Town Reserves slipped up when away to third bottom Rossington Main Reserves, falling to a 3-0 defeat.
A hat-trick from Mason Gee, and a brace from Callum Wright, gave SJR Worksop Development a comfortable, 5-0 home win, against FC United of Sheffield, in Division One North; they’ll finish in third place in the final standings.
A handful of games were also played in Division One East as RHP Sports push for runners-up spot following their 3-0 win away to Southwell City Development
Kirton Brickworks are in sixth place following their 2-1 home win over Linby CW Reserves, the hosts netting through Louis Colley and Jack March, whilst Mansfield Hosiery Mills Blue fell to a 5-3 loss when away to Pilsley Community, Nathan Flint with a four-goal salvo for the victors.
