Kimberley & Elston Crowned Champs

As the 2024/25 season comes to it’s close in the Nottinghamshire Senior League, the two other, divisional titles, have now been decided, following Saturday’s round of matches, as Kimberley Miners Welfare and Elston United emerged victorious.

In Division One, Kimberley MW have finally seen off challengers following victory in their last game, even though those beneath have games in hand; the champions, they picked up a 2-1 win on the road at Hucknall Town Reserves, the hosts netting through Mitchell Jackson.

The Division One champions though, they’ve had that little bot more than most of their opponents all season (only lost four times), and picked up the much-needed win with goals from Bradley Mee and Lewis Deavin.

Now, with those beneath still having games in hand, the focus in Division One turns to runners-up spot, with either of East Leake Robins, AFC Colsterworth, or Bingham Town, in with a chance.

Neither of those played on Saturday, but Meden Vale Colts, in fifth, eased to a 7-1 win away to Beeston Old Boys Association, Liam Jepson and Jordan Smith both notching braces, whilst there was also a seven-goal thriller on Friday night with Clifton All Whites edging hosts Keyworth United Reserves, 4-3, to finish their run of matches.

The Division Two title meanwhile goes to Elston United, with victory on the final day of the season to keep their noses ahead of runners-up, Gedling Southbank; Elston won 2-0 at home to a Notts Olympic side who’ve challenged all season themselves, and who finish in third, whilst Gedling breezed past visiting Calverton Miners Welfare, 4-0, to take second.

At Elston it would be a goal in each half that sealed the title, Harry Johnson opening the scoring after just twelve minutes, with James Scott confirming with seven minutes remaining.

Gedling meanwhile, they won 4-0 thanks to goals from Stephen King (2), Josh McArdle and Luke Jackson, and finish two points behind the champions, whilst there was a six-goal thriller between Reindeer and Pelican.

The former finished their season with three consecutive draws as Jonathan Jenkinson scored twice for the hosts, Opeoluwa Kolawole with a brace in reply for the visitors.

Premier Division champions, FCV Grace Dieu, collected their twenty-ninth league win of the season, captain Joe Lindley with the only goal away to Ruddington Village.

With Cotgrave inactive, third place Aslockton & Orston, and fourth place Keyworth United, both dropped points; the former were held to a 3-3 draw away to Dunkirk, whilst the latter lost 6-3 against their visitors, Southwell City Reserves.

Kayne Crofts had a good weekend though; on Friday night he scored twice in Keyworth Reserves’ seven-goal thriller, and the following day he added another brace, this time as their firsts were involved in a nine-goal game.

Other results in the Premier Division would see Awsworth Villa win 2-0 at FC Cavaliers, Woodthorpe Park Rangers see off hosts Beeston 3-1, and Radcliffe Olympic won 2-1 at home to Borrowash Victoria, whilst the game between Collingham and Wollaton finished honours even, Kyle Yarnell with two for the hosts, and Joshua Broad two for the visitors, in a 2-2 draw.

The one game in Division Three meanwhile saw Ravenshead Reds win 2-1 away to Phoenix Athletic, a division won at a landslide by Beeston Reserves.
