Hucknall & Pelican Reach Final
The finalists for the Notts Senior League Intermediate Cup were decided on afternoon, as the two semi-finals were played out from which Hucknall Town Reserves and FC Pelican, progressed.
Hucknall, twelfth in Division One, defeated Division Two leaders, Elston United, 2-0 at home to progress to the final, Oliver Peate and Connor Whiles with the goals, and they’ll face another Division Two side, sixth place FC Pelican, in the final, after they picked up a 3-0 win at divisional rivals Gedling Southbank, goals coming from Fraser Holden, Damilola Sanusi, and Shardan Buchanan.
League-wise, and the Premier Division’s top two both picked up ‘narrow’ wins on the road, leaders FCV Grace Dieu winning 3-0 at Southwell City, Spencer Weir-Daley netting a brace, whilst Cotgrave won 1-0 at Aslockton & Orston, Franco Paz with the only goal.
Cotgrave are still nine adrift of FCV, and with just one game in hand now, as the run-in reaches boiling point.
Keyworth United moved level with Aslockton in third place after they won 3-1 at home to Ruddington Village, and Awsworth Villa won 2-1 away to Wollaton as they chase down fifth place Collingham, and with games in hand.
At the other end of the table meanwhile, Dunkirk edged visiting FC Cavaliers thanks to the games’ only goal from John Fitch, and FC Sez won a seven-goal thriller away to Woodthorpe Park Rangers, Nicholas Federici with a hat-trick for the victors, Markell Bailey a brace in reply.
Division One leaders, Kimberley MW Reserves, were held to a 2-2 draw, when away to Meden Vale Colts, Owen Evans with a brace as they kept a six-point lead from Colsterworth, in second, who won 4-2 at Clifton AW Reserves.
There was also plenty of goals elsewhere in the division as well, Stapleford Reserves winning 4-3 at Keyworth Reserves on Friday night, Declan Brown with three for the victors; Rushcliffe won by the same score at Beeston OBA, and the game between Sandiacre and East Leake finished in a 2-2 draw, AC United also drawing, they 1-1 at home to PMG.
Notts Olympic kept in touch with Division Two leaders, Elston United, following their 3-0 home win over FC Cavs Reserves, Matty Gordon with a double, whilst the game between AJ Sport and Rossoneri saw eight goals, the two sides sharing the spoils in a 4-4 draw.
Division Three leaders, Beeston Reserves, won 2-0 at home to Cotgrave Reserves, and Newark & Sherwood Development, in Development Division A picked up a 5-1 home win over Cotgrave, with West Bridgford winning 2-1 at Linby in Division B.
