NSL Round Up – Final Places Sorted

Two of the Notts Senior League’s divisional finals were decided this past weekend as the semi-finals of their Senior Cup, and Development Cup, were both played.

In the former, the final will be between Aslockton & Orston, and title-chasing FCV Grace Dieu, the former winning 4-2 away to East Leake Robins, Aidan Loscalzo with a brace for the victors to help them through, whilst the latter, they eased to a 5-0 home win against Ruddington Village, keeping hopes of a league and cup double alive.

As for the latter, that will be between Attenborough Development and AFC Warriors Development, after both sides won 2-1 on the road on Saturday, at Cotgrave, and Linby, respectively – Lewis Caine and Luke Smith netted for the former, and Lucas Rudd-Hearn and Jake Warrner for the latter.

With Grace Dieu on cup duty, Cotgrave, who played under the Friday Night Lights, narrowed the gap at the top to nine, with a game in hand, following their 3-0 win at home to Dunkirk, goals coming from Henry Adlam-Wood, Patrick Ferguson, and Jack Reid.

The other Friday night game saw Josh Lee bag a hat-trick for Borrowash Victoria as they won 5-0 at home to Radcliffe Olympic.

Fourth place Keyworth Untied were held to a goalless draw on Saturday when away to Wollaton, and fifth place Collingham edged hosts FC Cavaliers 3-2; Awsworth Villa won 1-0 at Southwell City Reserves, and FC Sez picked up a 5-2 win against visiting West Bridgford Reserves.

Division One leaders, Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves, win 4-1 away to Stapleford Town Reserves, Ryan Whitehurst’s brace helping them overturn an interval deficit; with second place East Leake on cup duty, Colsterworth closed the gap to two points, with two games in hand, following their 5-2 home win over Meden Vale Colts.

AC United moved above Bingham Town into fourth after the former won 2-1 at Sandiacre, and the latter lost 2-0 at Keyworth Reserves; Rushcliffe and Clifton Reserves battled to a 3-3 draw, and Hucknall Town Reserves won 3-0 away to Bilborough TRD.

Division Two leaders, Elston United, slipped up when they fell to a 2-0 loss away to FC Cavaliers Reserves, whilst there were home wins for both Gedling Southbank, and Greyfriars; Beeston Reserves meanwhile stretched their advantage atop of Division Three to twelve points after they won 4-0 at Ravenshead Reds, second place Parabellum losing 2-1 at home to Cotgrave Reserves, who are third on goal-difference from Langwith Whitestar, who were held to a 1-1 draw at Awsworth Reserves.

The days’ top score came as East Leake Reserves romped to a 16-0 win at home to a shell-shocked Nottingham Greens, the third bottom side putting the basement side firmly to sword – Zac Madden and Lewis Collins both scored hat-tricks, Aidan Colling and Luke Carlson added braces, whilst there were further goals from Harry Freeman, Nathan Furborough, Ollie Parkin, James Tinkler, Callum Waddley and Oliver Eddals.
