Linby Continue To Rise

Linby’s hopes of a top three finish in the Central Midlands Alliance Premier South continued to rise on Saturday afternoon as they stretched their unbeaten league run to four matches, following victory away to Bakewell Town.

It was a twelfth league win of the season for Jonathan Wass’ side in a game which saw all three goals, Linby winning 2-1, coming in the second half.

The hosts took the lead within five minutes of the restart through Sam May, before Wass made a double change which swung the game in the visitors’ favour, brining on Zachary Hamilton and Charlie Tassi on the hour.

The change paid instant dividends as, two minutes later, a shot from Tassi came back off the bar and Hamilton put home the rebound, then, with fifteen remaining, Linby led; Pollitt raced along the wing and his cross was perfect for Tassi to head home what proved the winner.

Linby CW – Jack Walker, Joe Turner (Charlie Tassi, 60), Josh Wass, George Skevington, Ethan Fells, Corey Wood (Jacob Sucharewycz, 79), Spencer Pollitt, Mason Moore (Oscar Trigg, 68), Rory Smith (Zachary Hamilton, 60), Greg Conn, Liam Cartledge

Arnold Town are up to tenth place following a comfortable, 4-1 win, at home to Mickleover Reserves, who are now ahead of the Eagles on just goal-difference in the table.

A seventh league win of the season, three of which have come in their last four outings, have certainly boosted Eagles hopes of now pushing for as high a finish as possible; Adam Stevenson helped them on their way with a brace, and he was joined by goals from Akeem Campbell and Max Elliott.

There was also victory for thirteenth place Mansfield Hosiery Mills, Billy Brooks with the only goal of their win at Cromford & Wirksworth, whilst Teversal’s woes continued following their seventeenth loss of the campaign, this a 3-1 reverse away to Holbrook St. Michaels, Sam Jackson for the visitors.

In the Premier North, Blidworth Welfare, Worksop Town Reserves, and Ollerton Town, are all in the top ten, sitting sixth, eighth and ninth respectively, all three picking up away wins.

Welfare edged a nine-goal thriller when at Yorkshire Main; Town Reserves, thanks to goals from Shane Carver and Tyrese Bailey-Green, won 2-0 at Glapwell; whilst the other Town, courtesy of Adam Scott’s brace (one a penalty), and an opener from Josh Madin, won 3-1 at Harworth Colliery.

The remaining game in the South finished level between Kiveton Miners Welfare and SJR Worksop.
