Panthers Gain Road Shutout Win

Coventry Blaze 0-1 Nottingham Panthers (Elite League) 19.02.22

The Nottingham Panthers recorded their third win in a row on Saturday night after beating the Blaze in Coventry.

Kevin Carr got the start in goal for the Panthers opposite CJ Motte for the Blaze.

Nottingham had to kill two penalties to Sean Richards in the first period before earning themselves a late power play opportunity at 19.48.

After Nathaniel Halbert was called for cross-checking at the end of the first period the Panthers had 1.48 of five-on-three powerplay to begin the second.

Motte was in stubborn form though and the Panthers couldn’t break through on their two-man advantage.

19 seconds after killing a delay-of-game penalty assessed to Kevin Carr the Panthers struck.

Matt Lane got the puck to Massimo Carozza who whipped the puck across to Robbie Baillargeon (30.42) who tapped in at the back door.

Less than a minute later a hit along the boards led to Lane dropping the gloves with Dane Gibson, the Panthers man almost completing a Gordie Howe Hattrick after leaving the box five minutes later.

A tense final period saw Kevin Carr (46 saves) have to come up huge on multiple occasions to keep Nottingham ahead, especially on two third period powerplays for the home team.

Carr & the Panthers continued to stand firm & when the final hooter blew they had recorded their third win in as many Premier Sports Elite League games.
