Panthers Win In Fife

Fife Flyers 2-4 Nottingham Panthers (Elite League) 15.01.22

The Nottingham Panthers made it five wins on the bounce with victory over the Flyers in Fife on Saturday night.

Kevin Carr started in goal for the Panthers with J.C. Brassard and Mark Matheson on defensive duties in a line-up that started with Robbie Baillargeon, Sean Richards and Matt Lane in attack.

And it was Matt Lane (0.52) who got Nottingham off to the perfect start when he showed great patience to fire high into the Fife net before Josh Tetlow (7.53) beat Owen on the glove side to put the Panthers up by two, and force the Flyers to burn their time-out early.

Lane (12.23) added his second of the night, on a delayed penalty against Fife, to make it 3-0 to Nottingham after just one period of play.

Fife, however, fought back in the second thanks two goals from Jacob Benson (29.41 & 39.16) to trail by just one goal after 40 minutes.

A tense final period saw Carr have to come up big for the Panthers and that led to Mathieu Tousignant (59.35) firing into the empty net, from his own end of the ice, to seal the two Premier Sports Elite League points on offer for Nottingham.

Tonight Nottingham travel to Dundee for a 5pm face off. The Panthers now fourth in the Elite League table having played 23 games the team on 26 points 13 behind leaders Sheffield.
