Bingham At The Double In NSL Cup

It’s Bingham at the double in the end of season finals in the Samba Nottinghamshire League divisional cups as both Premier Division Bingham Town, and Division Two South, Bingham Town Reserves, reached their respective finals at the weekend.

Of the two the Premier Division side progressed on the back of a somewhat comfortable, 5-0, home win over visitors Woodthorpe Park Rangers, goals in which came via Aaron Large with a brace, Sam Mellor, Tom Spencer, and Jay Archer; meanwhile, the Division 2 South outfit, Town’s Reserves, went through following an entertaining, yet battling, 3-3 draw with their visitors, Ruddington Village Reserves, Ruddington at one point came from 3-1 down, before progressing 5-3 on penalties – their opponents in the final will be Sandiacre Town and AC United respectively.

Sandiacre reached the Premier Division showpiece, to be held on the evening of 12 June, courtesy of a 3-1 win away to Ravenshead, David Harries among the scorers for the victors.

The First Division cup final sees that of AFC Top Valley and Wollaton Reserves facing off, both of whom won on the road as the former defeated Radcliffe Olympic 4-2, whilst the latter saw off United Grays 3-1.

At Radcliffe, both Jacob, and Joseph Gunn, netted for the visitors, they helping their side over the line, whilst in the other semi-final, Preston Robinson was at the double, at United Grays expense.

There was a pair of comfortable, away wins, in the Division 2 North semis, United Grays Community winning 4-1 at ten-man Beeston Development as both Macauley Spencer and Jack Lindo bagged braces, whilst Shaun Smith helped himself to a hat-trick in the 6-0 win for Beeston Old Boys Association away to Blidworth Welfare Red, further goals coming from Gavin Carr, Harry Hill and Joe Stanway.

Bingham Reserves made the Division 2 South final on penalties when home to Ruddington Village Reserves, their goals in the 3-3 draw being scored by Thomas Balchin, Jacob Boyes and James Keen, whilst AC United won 4-2 at Fernwood Foxes, Courtney Valentine at the double.

As for the Foundation Division, their final will be contested between Netherfield Seniors and AFC Bull Farm, after both won at home, against AFC Vernon (4-0) and Manor (4-2) respectively.

With all five finals scheduled to take place at Greenwich Avenue, Basford, those of the Foundation, Division, Division 2 North, and Division 2 South cups, will take place this coming Saturday, 5 June (11am, 2pm, and 5pm respectively).

The First Division Cup, between AFC Top Valley and Wollaton Reserves, and Premier Division Cup, Sandiacre versus Bingham Town, are the following Saturday, 12 June, kicking off at 2pm and 5pm respectively.
