Double Reds Swoop Ahead Of Deadline

Nottingham Forest have added Glenn Murray and James Garner to the side after a double swoop ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline following Saturday’s goalless draw with Barnsley.

Manager Chris Hughton has known for a while now that his side need more in attack, and in signing Murray on a permanent deal, he feels he has a player that he knows can give him what he wants and with a track record that includes over 200 career goals.

The 37-year-old will be hoping tpo prove he’s not past his sell by date, but hope is that even a short stint can provide a player with experience, hungry, that can dominate opposition defences and score goals too, something Forest have been short on of late.

In James Garner, who signed on Saturday night, the Reds have a loan signing from Manchester United that plays in an advanced midfield role and can make things happen from the centre of the park.

19-year-old Garner has played for England at U17,18,19 & 20 levels with 20 Championship games already this season whilst on loan at Watford.

Garner said on signing for Forest “I’m made up to join a club with the stature and history of Forest and I can’t wait to get stuck into the challenge”.

Reds Manager Hughton said of the player “James is a promising young talent in central midfield and that is an area where we’ve had injury problems and players missing in recent weeks.

“He has completed a good spell at Watford where he has picked up some much-needed Championship experience and we’re confident he will be a valuable asset to us between now and the end of the season.”

Whilst on Murray, Hughton said “Glenn is a player I know very well and he has an excellent pedigree at this level. Certainly he will add leadership and experience to our squad between now and the end of the season.

“He is a proven goalscorer at Premier League and Championship level and has continued to keep himself fit so we are looking forward to what he can bring to the squad ahead of a busy run of fixtures.”
