First Mighten Goal Gives Forest Point
Millwall 1-1 Nottingham Forest (EFL Championship) 19.12.20
Nottingham Forest took a point from the Lions Den as they drew with Millwall in London this afternoon as Alex Mighten scored his first ever Reds first team goal.
A competitive first half saw five bookings (two for Millwall, three for Forest) as both sides flexed their weight with Ameobi forcing former Notts County goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski into a save at his near post, the best attacking moment from Chris Hughton’s men shortly after the half hour mark.
If the first half was tight and tense, the second started with a flurry of action as just three minutes in the home side took the lead when Tom Bradshaw tapped under Samba from close range following an assist by Bodvarsson who crossed low into the strikers path.
The lead however didn’t last long, two minutes later a long ball over the top allowed Mighten in to flick the ball over the goalkeeper and bring back Forest to level matters.
Millwall could have quickly retaken the lead when Jed Wallace shot across the face of goal on 52 minutes and the same player’s attempt on 67 was brilliantly blocked by Joe Worrall as it looked destined for the net and the attempts still came as the clock ticked, the best of which brilliantly saved by Samba in the last minute of stoppage time as the Congolese Goalkeeper flicked over Ryan Leonard’s long range shot.
