FA Vase Third Round Draw
The third round draw of the Buildbase FA Vase has been made with three Nottinghamshire sides in the hat as the final few clubs in England and Wales aim to reach the last sixteen of non-league football’s national knock out cup for step 5 and 6 teams of the pyramid.
With a Wembley final in view at the end, Radford, Newark and Rainworth Miners Welfare will all be looking to take further steps in a competition that has been creating history for minnows since 1974.
Creating their very own history at the weekend, Radford FC beat Bewdley Town to go further than any Pheasants side had gone previously, and their reward, a home tie against Westfields of the Hellenic League Premier Division.
Westfields from Herefordshire were beaten by Worksop Town earlier in this seasons FA Cup and are a former member of the Midland League which Newark FC currently play in.
Newark beat fellow Midland League opponents in Boldmere St Michaels at the weekend, a thrilling game ending 4-3 and the tangerines reward is a home tie against Walsall Wood or Bridgnorth who are yet to play their second round tie.
Another team from Notts involved in the competition and still yet to play their second round match against Anstey Nomads are former FA Vase finalists Rainworth Miners Welfare.
Should the wrens come through their tricky encounter in Leicestershire this Saturday, they’ll face another tricky trip away from home at Coventry Sphinx in the last 32 with all ties scheduled for Saturday 19th December.
