Curtis Scores Hat Trick As Nottingham Closes Race Campaign
It was a fantastic day for Ben Curtis as he rode three horses to victory at Nottingham today whilst David Pipe celebrated yet another win with the fantastic Main Fact who made it eight wins on the bounce.
The last race of the year was held at Nottingham Racecourse this afternoon with an eight race card event to close what has been a frustrating season that far from went to plan.
Following a lockdown in March that caused havoc to first close the venue then subject racing across the country behind-closed doors, only it has been a hard hit financial battle for the Jockey Club and its courses but action we had as a few familiar faces rode into town.
Eshaada was a debut winner for Jim Crowley in the first race of the day before Twisted Reality ridden by Cieren Fallon achieved similar feat ahead of Dancing To Win.
Simons King, ridden by Ben Curtis, was winner of the 13:40 third race titled the Beaten By A Head At MansionBet EBF Maiden Stakes before Gordonstoun made it two wins for Cieron Fallon who is set to be crowned Champion Apprentice for a second time.
Trainer David Pipe made it a hat-trick of flat wins for Main Fact and an eighth successive win on the trot for a horse in form ridden to victory by Ben Curtis in the 14:40 MansionBet Proud To Support British Racing Handicap before Curtis scored his own hat-trick for the day riding Mike Appleby’s Zim Baby to victory in the 15:10.
In the penultimate race Harrison Shaw rode Harry’s Ridge to victory ahead of Tomohawk Ridge before the final race saw Miss S Brotherton win on Bad Company in the AJA Female Amateur Jockeys Handicap.
