Jack Is Back
Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback has returned to the City Ground after signing a permanent contract with Nottingham Forest today.
The 30 year-old saw his opportunities limited last season at St James Park and hasn’t played for the Toon since 2017.
Having originally joined on loan at Forest during the latter stages of the 2017/18 campaign, Colback re-joined the Reds in the summer of 2018/19 and played a full season under first Aitor Karanka, then Martin O’Neill before red tape (and finances) wouldn’t allow for the extension of his stay into last season much to the annoyance of many Forest fans.
Released from Newcastle this summer after running down his contract, Colback who played over 100 games for the Magpies returns to Forest where he has already played 55 times scoring 4 goals and in the process has become a fans favourite who have long touted him for a much anticipated return.
The signing of Colback may now pave way for the release of Ben Watson who is interested in moving back south for family reasons, the capture at least appeases those concerned that the Reds midfield will be bolstered by the combative Geordie who knows the club, county and culture from his previous successful spells at the City Ground.
