Rain Dampens Cricket Week Two
Saturday’s downpour white-washed two games in the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board Premier League as Clifton Village’s match verses Attenborough and Caythorpe’s tie against Cuckney both fell victim to the weather.
In the North Group encounter, Cuckney finished on 167/7 from their revised 35 overs with Caythorpe unable to reach enough overs to score a Duckworth & Lewis target. The Trent-siders finishing on 17/2 from six overs before the match was abandoned by umpires Simon Cooper and Brian Jones.
Better news elsewhere in the North Group as the two other games in the division did at least get outcomes. Kimberley Institute hit 251/7 from their 40 overs at Mansfield Hosiery Mills with Jack Nightingale top scoring on 95. In reply the home side hit 84/6 before the rain set in for good with just under 13 overs remaining.
Kimberley’s win see’s them go level at the top with Papplewick & Linby who beat Hucknall after scoring 189/6 in their 38 over innings. Ben Trevor-Jones (66) and Louis Bhabara (56) both scoring half centuries with Hucknall set 119 from their 19 overs to win. The hosts eventually ending on 86/5 with three wickets for P&L’s Jim Rhodes.
In the South Group, Attenborough set Clifton Village a target of 176 after finishing their innings 175/5 from 33 overs. Clifton however only lasted 4 overs themselves as the game was abandoned due to the heavy rain with them scoring just 4/1.
Cavaliers and Carrington were able to get their second win of the season after Plumtree scored 147/7 from 37 overs (including a 72 from Seb Menzhausen). Cavs hit their revised target of 61 with seven wickets in hand from 14.5 overs to go top of the tree. Joining them at the top of the South Section are Radcliffe-on-Trent who beat Wollaton thanks to D&L.
Wollaton scored 140/7 from 33 overs before Radcliffe replied in getting their fifty target from just ten overs played.
