Rugby Union At All Levels Suspended
Rugby Union is the latest sport to be suspended due to the fear of coronavirus with the game across all levels from top to bottom now put on hold.
In a statement the RFU said: “The decision has been taken in the interests of players, coaches, referees, volunteers, supporters and the wider rugby union community.”
“Where possible, players at all levels are encouraged to maintain their own personal fitness and keep active during this time, while following government guidelines about safe distance and safe exercise environments.”
“The RFU will continue to review and monitor government advice and will provide detailed updates on the impact to the season in the coming weeks.”
Nottingham’s match against Jersey was called off at the weekend after two of the visiting teams players requested to self-isolate ahead of their trip. The Green & Whites are sixth in the Championship table and were due to play against Bedford at the weekend.
