Women In Action

After a 2-1 win at the weekend against AFC Fylde Nottingham Forest Women are in National League action tonight as they take on Sheffield FC in Dronfield.

The girls will make the short trip up the M1 to the Coach & Horses Ground as they face a team bottom of the division with just one win in nine whilst the Reds in third are looking to close the gap on leaders Sunderland and second place Derby County.

Forest are currently on 24 points from their eleven games played (7 behind Sunderland) but more than catchable are rivals Derby who are just four points above Forest having played three more matches.

Forest edged Fylde at the weekend thanks to a last minute winner at the Eastwood Community Stadium by substitute Helena Constantinou and a superb solo goal in the first half from the talented Rebecca Rayner.

A win tonight would take Forest to within a point of Derby and four behind Sunderland with both teams still to play in the title run in.

As well as tonight’s match up there’s plenty of women’s football on offer this weekend in the East Midlands Womens Regional League Cup we have Ollerton Town Ladies verses Notts County Women on Sunday whilst Mansfield Town Ladies will be in Premier Division action against Oughtibridge War Memorial Ladies at Field Mill.

The Continental Cup also comes to Nottingham as Arsenal play Chelsea in the final of the Women’s League Cup at the City Ground with a 5:30pm kick off on Saturday evening.

Tickets are available for the Continental Cup through the FA website here so anyone hoping to attend can enjoy watching two of the best teams in Womens football in what will be the ninth League Cup final on record.
