Double Defeat For Wildcats
It’s been a miserable 2020 for Nottingham Wildcats so far as the team has dropped down in the Championship standings from challenging for top spot prior to Xmas to their current position of sixth after losing five of their last six league matches since the start of December.
The Wildcats were in cup action on Saturday night as they were beaten 82-92 by Durham Palatinates in the WBBL Trophy semi final despite a magnificent performance from Nottingham’s Jasmine Joyner scoring 32 points with 17 rebounds and 3 blocks.
The Wildcats lost to Sheffield Hatters yesterday in the WBBL Championship 82-64 in what was the teams fourth defeat in a row. Tia Freeman top scoring with 20 points as Simone Costa and Jasmine Joyner netted 14 each.
It was better news for Nottingham McDonald’s Hoods yesterday though as the team bounced back from five successive defeats themselves to beat Westminster Warriors 115-106.
The Hoods are now tenth in the table on 12 points with the win in large parts motivated by the games MVP Delaney Powell who scored 22 points with 3 assists and 1 rebound.
Next up for the Hoods is a trip to Bradford Dragons on Saturday whilst the Wildcats look to bounce back at home to Cardiff Met Archers on the same day. 5:30pm tip off at the Wildcats Arena.
