Tyson Out As Notts Face Daggers

Nathan Tyson has left Notts County to join Chesterfield on loan until the end of the season. The veteran forward now 37 has made regular appearances from the bench for Notts since joining the club in the summer following a successful trial but has seen his chances for starting places limited due largely to the form of both Kyle Wootton and Wes Thomas.

Tyson, who played over 200 games for Nottingham Forest from 2005 to 2011 joins Matt Tootle and Ross Fitzsimons as Notts loanees at the Proact Stadium although none of the three players can face Notts at Meadow Lane in the National League on February 1st which has been switched to a 5:20pm kick off and will now be shown live on BT Sports.

This weekend Notts travel south to Dagenham & Redbridge in a ‘must win’ league match with the Magpies hopeful of catching those above. A repeat of the cup exploits just a fortnight ago will very much be on the minds of the players and Kevin Doyle especially who netted a last minute winner from near the halfway line as Notts won 2-1 in the FA Trophy.

Notts are currently sixth but just one point clear of Stockport outside the playoffs in eighth whilst the Daggers will need the points to keep them adrift of the relegation zones of which they sit just a place above but level with Chesterfield in 21st on goal difference.

Manager Neal Ardley stated that Jim O’Brien “will travel” although the former AFC Wimbledon boss suggested that the Scot won’t be fit enough to start quoting ““If I take him I have to be open to an ear bashing because he’ll be telling me he’s fit to start, but we know he’s not ready to.”

Ardley said on O’Brien ““He’s trained Thursday and he got 45 minutes in the tank on Tuesday night so I’ll have a think.”

With a new signing expected to be in the side former Newcastle United winger Cal Roberts who joined from Blyth Spartans this week could be called upon to make his debut with Ardley excited about the acquisition saying “He has pace, a low centre of gravity, tight control, quick feet, a lovely left foot and an edge to him as a Geordie lad, so he’s not soft.”

“He can strike a good ball, play off either side or as a number 10 and he’s got the bit between his teeth.”

With that sort of build up all Notts County fans should be very excited indeed.

Kick Off at Victoria Road is 3pm with Dion Kelly-Evans injured whilst Ben Turner and Damien McCrory are 50/50 to make the cut.
