Arnold Through As Newark Go Top

Arnold Town came from a goal behind against Southwell City to go through into the last sixteen of the Notts FA Senior Cup on a windy night at Eagle Valley.

The visitors went ahead when Tom Robinson struck home a long range effort but Arnold equalised from a corner after the break and with ten minutes left took the lead from another set play.

In the final few minutes Arnold wrapped things up after a defensive error setting up an tie away at Teversal in round four of the competition to be played later this month.

In the Midland Football League it was a great night for Newark Flowserve who went top of the table with a 3-2 win at Coventry Sphinx. Newark fell behind before levelling on the hour through Ben Hutchinson and took the lead through Kyle Dixon with just ten minutes remaining before the home side levelled with a free kick. As time ran out it was substitute Matthew Cotton who snatched a last minute winner sending Newark to the top of the table above Coventry United who didn’t play.

Elsewhere on Tuesday night in the East Midlands Counties League Cup 2nd Round West Bridgford beat Borrowash Victoria 5-1 thanks to two Jack Oldham goals and one each from Ben Clark, Josh Rae and John Whitehurst whilst in the Central Midlands League North Collingham beat Dronfield Town Reserves 3-2 whilst in the South Teversal Reserves beat Ashland Rovers 3-1.
