Coote Makes FIFA List

Nottinghamshire born Referee David Coote has been named amongst the FIFA list of International Referees for 2020.

The Newark based official was added to the Premier League list of Referees in 2018 and has since took charge of 20 top flight matches (including most recently at the London Stadium for Leicester City’s 2-1 win at West Ham United) as well as having over 100 Championship games under his belt.

Coote who was presented with a gold engraved whistle from the Nottinghamshire Football Association who he’s proudly represented over the years started officiating in the Notts Alliance League as a 16 year old before moving up the football pyramid to finally take charge at the highest level over a year ago.

Still aged 37 the son of a cricketer born in Winthorpe is hoping for his first introduction of European and International games this year.

David was presented today with his gold whistle at Collingham FC the ground near where he grew up stating on Notts TV “It’s something you can only dream of” suggesting “I started here at Collingham aged 14 years old and having been through all the levels to become a Premier League Referee is a massive honour and now to be on the list of International Referees is the pinnacle of what you can achieve”
