Up & Down Weekend For Panthers
Nottingham Panthers 4-3 Fife Flyers (Elite League) 26.10.19
Coventry Blaze 4-3 Nottingham Panthers (Elite League) 27.10.19
Nottingham Panthers got the better of Fife Flyers on Saturday evening at the Motorpoint Arena but lost at Coventry Blaze just 24 hours after with both matches in the Elite League ending 4-3.
After being penalised for a line up violation Fife started the first quarter a man down with Adam Deutsch taking advantage of the powerplay to give the home side the lead but it was short lived as McKenzie equalised to tie the game at one each.
In the second period Jake Hansen gave the Panthers the lead before Cazzola levelled and the sides went in to the 3rd period all square.
Fife took the lead through Jones for the first time a minute into the final period but Jon Rhealt levelled and captain Sam Herr scored a late winner to give the home side a much needed win.
In Coventry however things didn’t go quite as well even after another great start after Deutsch grabbed the Panthers an early lead on Sunday.
Blaze struck back in the 2nd period to level up before Betteridge gave Panthers the lead for the second and last time of the night. Johnston struck home during a powerplay to tie at two before Ferrara struck for Coventry in the 3rd period and although Bulmer levelled things up again it was Ferrara who struck during a late powerplay to give the home side the points.
The Panthers (7th position) now face Dundee Stars (9th) on Wednesday night at the National Ice Arena needing victory to pull away from their opponents who are just two points behind in the table.
