Wildcats Final Chance Postponed

Nottingham Wildcats against Leicester Riders in the final of the WBBL Cup has been postponed this Sunday after a number of Leicester players and staff are required to self-isolate in accordance with covid-19 rules.

The Wildcats were set to face the Riders as a replacement for Sevenoaks Suns after the Kent based side who beat Nottingham in the semi-final withdrew from all basketball competition until February, the rescheduled tie for the final could leave a question on who now plays the Riders in what has become a much complicated competition committee matter, depending on when the tie is rescheduled.

Nottingham instead will play Essex Rebels in the WBBL Championship having beaten them at home convincingly last weekend 98-67, the two sides will face each other again in league matters at the Essex Sports Arena on Saturday at 1pm.

One bit of good news at least for a local player in what has been an eventful week. Wildcats England Youth International Becky Dwomoh has committed to D1 Robert Morris University and will play NCAA basketball in the USA for the 2021/22 season ahead.

Becky stated ahead of her travels to America “I’m very excited to be able to continue my journey at such at such a great program and can’t wait”
