Mist Rolling In

On a foggy misty winters night in Nottinghamshire football again suffered the element of the gods as matches were forced to be abandoned up and down the county.

Newark Flowserve might be thinking their luck was most effected as they led 5-0 at Selston in the Notts Senior Cup Fourth Round before the officials deemed the game to be unplayable in the 63rd minute.

Massiah McDonald twice, Danny Meadows, Zak Goodson and Ben Hutchinson had all scored for the Highwaymen before the Referees halted the game for 19 minutes before finally abandoning the match in the 82nd minute. Both clubs will find out their fate today with most assuming that Newark should be awarded the tie.

In the other ties of the night Eastwood Community and Ollerton Town lasted just 2 minutes before being forced into abandonment whilst Kimberley Miners Welfare lead 3-1 against Newark Town before that match was called off. Hucknall Town and Gedling Miners Welfare was also abandoned at Watnall Road with the visitors 0-1 up on the night.

In the Central Midlands League things fared little better with Collingham and Harworth Colliery called off at half time scoreless whilst Retford United’s match verses AFC Bentley was also abandoned due to the weather.
