Four, was the magic number, in the United Counties Premier North on Saturday afternoon, with Kimberley Miners Welfare, when hosting Newark & Sherwood United, in a local dust-up, shared eight goals, in a 4-4 draw.

The first half, it belonged to the visitors, goals coming from Kian Sketchley, Ainsley Finney and Luke White, in the opening half hour, James Shaw having levelled the game at 1-1; however, the second period was the hosts; just.

Goals from Nathan Banton and Bijan Pakrouz saw the sides levelled at threes apiece just after the hour mark, with substitute Michael Pearson, on for Pakrouz immediately after he’d equalised netting a second equaliser at the death, White having netted his second the visitors seven minutes earlier.

There was plenty of goals netted in UCL One also, although Gedling Miners Welfare had an afternoon to forget when crashing to a six-goal defeat away to Barrow, and Rainworth Miners Welfare fell to a 4-0 loss when home to Birstall United.

West Bridgford won a local clash, 3-0, at home to Southwell, goals coming from Harry Hudson, Ashley Butterworth, and Klaudio Marqeshi, whilst Hucknall edged a five-goal thriller away to Grantham and sit joint-second.

Leading 2-1 at the break, Niall Towle and Joseph Ashworth both scoring, before Craig Westcarr grabbed the winner with minutes remaining; the other games involving Notts clubs all resulted in 2-1 wins.

Clipstone won away to Blackstones, Newark did the same at Holwell Sports, and a George Harrison brace gave Dunkirk the points against visiting Saffron Dynamo.

Carlton Town, in the Northern Premier East, made it a double for Notts clubs (see additional report for Worksop Town, champions), as they won 3-2 on the road, at Cleethorpes, and Basford United drew 1-1 away to Kings Langley, in the Southern League Central Division.

Both Notts clubs suffered defeats on the road at Northern Counties East One, Ollerton Town dropping to a 5-0 loss at Harrogate Railway, Lewis Walters with a hat-trick, and Retford fell to a 4-1 reverse away to Armthorpe Welfare, Jamie Austin with a treble for the victors, George White pulling one back just after the restart.

Retford United continue their march towards to the Central Midlands League Premier North title, Max Pemberton with the only goal as they saw off visitors Club Thorne (ending Thorne’s challenge), they holding a 23-point advantage on second place Dearne & District, who’ve several games in hand.

Both Nottingham, and Teversal, made the semi-finals of the CML League Cup, the former seeing off visitors Holbrook Angels, 3-2, and the latter, winning 2-0 at home to Dinnington, Cameron Pinnick with a brace.

As for the Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division, Wollaton remain out in front, by five from second place Keyworth United, although the leaders were held to a 1-1 draw at home to mid-table Cotgrave, and Keyworth, they romped to an 8-2 win at home to lowly Ravenshead.

Sandiacre Town sit third after they won 4-1 away to Radcliffe Olympic, and Stapleford Town are up to fifth following their 3-2 win at home to Clifton FCB, Stapleford having between five, and ten, games in hand, on those above them in the table, and thirteen off top spot.

Meanwhile, under the ‘Friday Night Lights,’ Basford CFC, in seventh, saw off visitors AFC Dunkirk, 3-0, Charlie Fox with a brace.
