More Ins & Outs As Forest Continue To Build

In September 1977 newly promoted Nottingham Forest paid a then record fee for a goalkeeper to snap up England international Peter Shilton from Stoke City, the rest became history that even the wildest of reds fans dreams could have failed to match.

In July 2022, newly promoted Nottingham Forest have again signed an England international goalkeeper, one in Dean Henderson from Manchester United, he who kept out the legendary David de Gea for large chunks of the 2020/21 campaign, one highly rated and by many, regarded as potentially the best in the country ahead of the likes of Jordan Pickford and Nick Pope.

Henderson joins on a year long loan which is a move ignited by Brice Samba, no mug himself, and his own option to request for a wage rise following promotion, which was rejected.

No question 25-year-old Henderson, a Manchester United Academy graduate who’s been at Old Trafford since 2011, is an upgrade on Samba, who himself may be looking for an exit to French football with Racing Club Lens interested in hiring his services.

Also outgoing in the goalkeeping department is Ethan Horvath who joins Luton Town on a year-long loan but replacing him as an able back-up, likely to Henderson, is Welsh International goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey from Burnley, recently relegated to the Championship, he’ll offer international quality cover and join a new look department between the Forest sticks.

Another signing for Nottingham Forest is right sided defender Giulian Biancone who joins from French Ligue 1 side Troyes on a three year deal.

22-year-old Biancone is a former France under 19 international who started his career at Monaco before moving to Cercle Brugges on loan.

After a season at Troyes where he played 33 times scoring one goal, he joins Forest with the view that he can fulfil a number of positions including central defence, right back and in midfield.

On signing Biancone who joined the rest of the players for their pre-season camp yesterday, Head Coach Steve Cooper stated “Giulian is a very talented defender who has attracted lot of interest from clubs across Europe.“He’s proven himself at the highest level in France and Belgium over recent years, and he recognises what we want to build at Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.”

Expect more news over the next couple of weeks as the Reds continue to do business this summer.
