City Ground Sell Out For Liverpool Visit

General admission tickets have been sold out for Nottingham Forest’s first match against Liverpool since 1999 as Reds fans flock to being part of a huge occasion for the club this Sunday in the FA Cup Quarter Final match at the City Ground.

The last time the two sides met, Pierre van Hooijdonk scored a late leveller in a Premier League encounter that ended 2-2, the last season Nottingham Forest were in the topflight of English football.

The Reds have had good news and bad news ahead of the visit of an auld enemy that your dad will remember, Forest suffered injuries to both Steve Cook and Max Lowe in the 4-0 win over Reading at the weekend with both players ruled out for six weeks, these will be significantly huge losses as the club hope to continue their playoff push over the coming months as well as taking on the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane at the weekend.

Forest do have a league game against Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday night and attention will all be about getting three points against a fellow playoff contender who are also going well in the division.

Yesterday the Reds announced Ryan Yates has signed a contract extension until 2025 with goalkeeper Jordan Smith also extending his stay with the club, Yates saying upon the announcement “I’m delighted to stay. I’ve been here for so many years and I love the club.

“It means everything to play for Forest and I feel like this is the best position the club has been in for a long time.”

Whilst Jordan Smith, a fans favourite who’s struggled for game time in recent seasons since the arrival of Brice Samba and Ethan Horvath, stated “The environment is fantastic and when you see how close the fans and players are; it’s probably the best it’s been in my entire time at the club.

“When the manager and coaching staff approached me to offer me a new deal, it was always going to be very tough to turn down and I’m delighted to be here.

“It’s a really exciting time to be part of the club.”

Tickets are still available for the visit of QPR on Wednesday, Mark Warburton’s side are currently fourth in the division, four points above Forest who are ninth.
