Formed in 1999 and designated as an ECB Premier League the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board Premier League is the top tier division of club cricket within the county. The top clubs in each of the two feeder leagues gain promotion each year with the Bassetlaw and District Cricket League serving those in the North of Notts and the South Nottinghamshire Cricket League hosting teams largely based in and around the city of Nottingham.
